On Etsy you can join groups filled with fellow etsy shop members to help each other out and build community. Simple Trading is one group I joined this summer, and I’m so glad I did. Every month or so they will have a themed swap kind of like “Secret Santa.” You sign up and are then paired with another shop/person to swap with. Then the admin gives you contact information and a little background on the person that you’ll be sending a surprise package to. You create a package full of goodies (about $20-$30 of product) and send them to your Secret Pal.
I was honestly a little hesitant to volunteer because I was afraid I’d put so much time and effort into sending out a great set of gifts to only receive a silly crochet hat. Well my package arrived today and I loved every little bit of it! I was paired with Joni, a nurse from Clarksville, Tennessee that created her own accessories for her own wedding, then decided to sell those goodies on her etsy shop, AlaJoni. Sound familiar? Joni makes custom wedding pillows, decorations and favors as well as custom children’s decorative pillows and tooth fairy pillows.
The packaging was so adorable I didn’t want to tear apart the shabby chic ribbon.
Best of all was the shabby chic pillow with our initial sewn in. It is perfect down to the last detail! Our guest bedroom was lacking a center throw pillow and it matches perfectly.
And the cherry on top: a handwritten card in a great envelope. How did she know I’m a sucker for great stationery?
