Secret to Stress Free Wedding Invitations – Timing
Congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the world of wedding planning! We love working with brides, grooms, mothers, friends, wedding planners and everyone in between. We have a blast creating each and every invitation and we want you to have just as much fun as we are having. Our secret sauce for stress-free invitations is sweet combination of love for what we do and a well planned timeline. Truthfully the biggest secret to stress free wedding invitations is timing!
Over the years we have learned a lot about timing and etiquette that will help keep things fun and stress free. Here are just a few of our recommendations.
Save the Dates
If you plan on using Save the Dates we recommended that you send them out 6 months before your wedding day. To meet that deadline we would ideally want to get started at least 7 – 8 months before the wedding date.
If you use Save the Dates then you can send the main invitation 6-8 weeks before the wedding and we would need to get started on the invitation at least 4 months before your wedding day.
Invitations Only
If you plan on sending invitations only you would want to send them to your guests 3 months ahead of the wedding. To meet that deadline we would want to get started about 5 months before your wedding day.
RSVPs should be requested back 3-4 weeks before the wedding date. That allows enough time to give a head count to all of your day of vendors. It is always nice to give yourself a bit of room in the RSVP timeline because you will most likely have stragglers that you have to call.
Destination Wedding
If you are having a destination wedding OR if you have a lot of out of town guests the invitations should go out 4-5 months before your wedding day. To meet that deadline we would want to get started 7 months before your wedding day.
